Southern Fried Wiccan by S.P. Sipal

Synopsis

Cilla Swaney is thrilled to return stateside, where she can hang up her military-brat boots for good. Finally, she’ll be free to explore her own interests—magick and Wicca. But when she arrives at her grandma’s farm, Cilla discovers that life in the South isn’t quite what she expected. At least while country hopping, she never had to drink G-ma’s crazy fermented concoctions, attend church youth group, make co-op deliveries...or share her locker with a snake-loving, fire-lighting, grimoire-stealing Goth girl…
…Who later invites her to a coven that Cilla’s not sure she has the guts to attend. But then Emilio, the dark-haired hottie from her charter school, shows up and awakens her inner goddess. Finally, Cilla starts believing in her ability to conjure magick. Until…
…All Hades breaks loose. A prank goes wrong during their high school production of Macbeth, and although it seems Emilio is to blame, Cilla and Goth pay the price. Will Cilla be able to keep the boy, her coven, and the trust of her family? Or will this Southern Wiccan get battered and fried?

My Thoughts
★ Burnt Fried Stars.
I received this book from NG in return for an honest review.

I hate hate HATE giving negative reviews, but there is honestly no way around this...

There are actually a lot of things I didn't like about this book. Not in any certain order, I'll name a few. "Boo-hoo-hoo...hoo-hoo-hoo." All this girl does is whine and complain, and lets like not forget like how much she like likes saying like every few words. Plus, she stereotypes everyone. She without a doubt pisses me off to no ends. She, to me, is also not responsible. You'd think if you were old enough to drive and have a job, you'd be more responsible.

Cilla, YOU. ARE. ANNOYING.

Also, there was nothing "southern" about this book. Just because someone says "y'all, sugar, dear (ect)" doesn't make them southern and just because they happen to live in the south doesn't exactly make them southern either.

This story did a lot of finger pointing of "this is the right religion! Yours is wrong!" Don't we have enough of this in our own lives than having to read it in a book every few pages? Along with this, is causes confusion and anxiety. I understand Cilla is confused about her "religion" but this was nothing but a religious debate attempting to be wrapped in a "story". Sad to say, as well, there was hardly anything "wiccan" in this story.

Southern Fried Wiccan isn't my cup of tea. The writing was slow and didn't keep my attention very long which is very bad considering how short this book is. The thing that drew me in was the name and cover. It seemed so different to me, but sadly, it was a disappointment.

I would not recommend this book.... Unless you like being confused and ticked off.

My Thoughts
★★★★★+ More Mind Blowing Stars.
I am so in LOVE with Life After The Undead and Death To The Undead!
The book picks up right where Life After The Undead ends, which is AMAZING! I really don't like books that have space between books, because personally, I want to know what actually happens. Lol. I once again got sucked into the zombie world of Krista and Quinn so much that honestly, I was left with nightmares. Bad thing? SHOOT NO! I was back to reading it once I woke up. Haha. I want to reread these books over and over, they are that good. (IMO)
I'm so glad I got to read these books. These books have made me cry, laugh, possible heart attack or two, get extremely hyper (when they are getting to battle-ect) So many emotions! Goodness knows when I got to the last page, I started crying. I wanted it to keep going. I don't think I can ever get enough.
So glad how everything turned out. I thought for sure some people would be double crossers and stuff.. I was wrong... Kinda. Lol. either way, I was blow away. I loved how it was written as well. Everything was perfectly paced and had the perfect amount of everything and then some. Lol.

5+ amazing stars! If I could offer more, I would.

Life After The Undead (Life After the Undead) by Pembroke Sinclair

Synopsis

The world has come to an end. It doesn't go out with a bang, or even a whimper. It goes out in an orgy of blood and the dead rising from their graves to feast on living flesh. As democracy crumples and the world melts into anarchy, five families in the U.S. rise to protect the survivors. The undead hate a humid environment, so they are migrating westward to escape its deteriorating effects. The survivors are constructing a wall in North Platte to keep the zombie threat to the west, while tyranny rules among the humans to the east.

My Thoughts
★★★★★+ Mind Blowing Stars.
Why can't we rate more than 5 stars?! Oh my gosh this book was so awesome!! To be perfectly honest, my TBR list was pretty long and I wanted to save this book for closer to the bottom because I always try to save the best for last. But eventually I just HAD to have a peek. So I told myself "I'll just read the first page" ... about 10 chapters later, I knew I couldn't quite. Mrs. Pembroke is such a hella talented author! I've read a few of her other books and she has this amazing way of capturing the moment of things just right that through the whole book it just keeps you sucked in. "Life After The Undead" was... mind blowing. It had the perfect amount of everything! It felt like I was living the story.
Liet made my freaking skin crawl.  And Krista is just a freakin bada**.
All the characters were so perfect for their part. It's really amazing when you can actually bond with pretty much all the characters in a book because you get to know so much about them.
I loved this book in every way. You couldn't make this book any more awesome. It exceeds the limit. Lol I would highly recommend this book.

I received this book from NG in return for an honest review.
Oh my gosh! Why can't I rate this over a trillion stars?! This book was so >AMAZING! Once I sat down and started reading it, I couldn't stop! It drew me in and I got so into it, I dang near had a heart attack at some points. Haha. R.L. Stine is such an amazing talented author! I love all his stuff. Sooo glad to see him writing Fear Street books again! ^_^ This was pure gold PERFECTION! If you were to say "How can this book be made better?" answer: IT CAN'T! It is truly perfect. The suspense was killing me! There was so many times I thought it was one person, then I ended up thinking "wait, no. It's this other person." Only to be wrong. Haha. I love it! Didn't want this book to end but the end was a jaw dropper. Did NOT see that coming and left me wanting more.
All in all, Great book. I fully recommend this book!

Dare to Dream by Carys Jones

Synopsis

“The world was going to end. Of that, Maggie Trafford was certain.”
Fourteen-year-old Maggie Trafford leads a normal life. Well, as normal as being crammed in a three-bedroom house with four siblings and a single parent can be, anyway. But despite being somewhat ignored at home, Maggie excels, earning top grades, a best friend who would do anything for her, and stolen looks from a boy in Maths. It’s not until the dreams start that Maggie realizes “normal” is the least of her problems. Every night, she lives the same nightmare—red lightning, shattered glass, destruction. But nightmares are just that, right? No one believes her when she says it’s an omen. At least, not until the already mysterious pillars of Stonehenge start falling. No longer alone in her fear, Maggie and the world watch with bated breath as one after another, the historic stones tumble, like a clock counting down. But only Maggie knows what it means: when the last stone falls, destruction will reign. And when the world ends, there’s only one option left—survive.Horrifying and raw, Dare to Dream is equal parts tragedy and hope, detailing the aftermath of apocalyptic catastrophe, the quest for survival, and the importance of belief.

My Thoughts
★★★★★+ Must Have Stars.
I received this book in return for an honest review.
Have you ever read a book that just catches you so off guard that you are at a loss for words and you have no idea what to say about it? That's honestly me right now. I don't even know where to start, so I think I'll start with ... umm WHOA!!This book was very well written and it drew me in. I didn't want it to end! There were some parts that really did make me mad though. Like Dawn, she just drove me up the wall from how whiny she was. Plus the whole "Come to church, It'll help you get over your nightmares!" ... How would she know?! The whole time she was there she was looking for a guy. And it broke my heart the way they treated Maggie. "It seemed that within their church, God favored the fortunate." What right do they have to look down on someone who doesn't come from money like they do, ya know? I could go on forever about this matter, but I will move along.
This book really keeps you guessing though. At least it did to me. From acts of God to paranormal to aliens.. made my head spin and kept me reading because I just HAD to know what would happen next!
I can't tell you how many times I ended up speed reading then had to force myself to stop and go back because I kept getting ahead of myself. Haha.
That ending though!!!! Oh my gooooossssshhhhh!!!! Please say there is a book two!!! There is NO WAY I can go on not knowing what happens next! For them to go through all of that to end just like that. My jaw dropped when I got to the last page. I can tell ya, no matter how hard you WILL there to be more pages... it won't happen... you just end up with a headache. lol. There are so many questions I have, I really hope there is a book two. Lol.
Truly awesome book. Full of surprises. I want to cover so much more on this but I don't want to give anything away. You'll just have to read it for yourself. :)
